New York to host 2014 Super Bowl

The new stadium shared by the New York Jets and New York Giants will be the host for the Super Bowl in 2014.

Owners voted heavily in favor of the first cold weather site to host a Super Bowl in the modern era.

The Jets and Giants have jointly built a new, state-of-the-art stadium to replace the old Giants Stadium.

Some owners are concerned that the site might open up a can of worms in that other cold weather areas will be considered in the future.

There is not so much concern over the fans but whether or not the play on the field could be affected by weather.

Revis wants big money

New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis wants big money in the form of a new contract, which comes as little surprise after his outstanding 2009 season.

Revis wants to receive as much as $20 million a year as part of a contract extension from the Jets.

It’s an insane amount of money that has never been paid out to a cornerback before. In fact, nothing even comes close.

There is no doubt Revis is the best player at his position in the NFL and completely dominant at that.

However, with a salary cap in place, it’s very hard to justify sinking $20 million per year into just one player.

Sanchez happy with knee rehab

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez said he is pleased with the rehab process with his left knee.

Sanchez had offseason surgery to repair a ligament that had caused him problems since his college days.

He reaggravated the knee injury during the season last year but was able to continue to play through it.

The quarterback believes he is right on schedule and will definitely be ready for the start of training camp.

There is a lot of pressure on Sanchez heading into this season because of how well he played last year and all of the team’s big offseason moves.

Ryan challenges players to lose weight

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is challenging two of his star players to lose some weight.

Ryan wants to see defensive tackle Kris Jenkins and offensive lineman Damien Woody report to training camp in better shape.

After all, it was just a couple of months ago when Ryan underwent surgery to help him lose weight as well.

Ryan said he has lost 40 pounds since the surgery to get down to 311, but that he wants to make it to 275.

Jenkins is still overweight after undergoing ACL surgery but Woody feels as though he is in great shape already.

Holmes causes plane altercation

New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes was involved in a disturbance on an airplane that forced law enforcement to get involved.

Holmes was asked to turn off his Ipod as the plane was ready to land, but did not follow instructions.

He then became angry with the flight attendant and was greeted on the ground by law enforcement.

The wideout said the whole thing was a misunderstanding and he did turn his Ipod off but did not take off the headphones.

Holmes was eventually released by officers and was not charged with any crime.
