New York Jets running back Thomas Jones wants his contract restructured, but the team isn’t going along with that.
Part of the reason the team drafted running back Shonn Greene in the third round was to put some pressure on Jones.
The team is concerned that Jones will not report to camp or show dedication to football because of his contract situation.
The Jets want to use Greene as leverage to show that they are more than willing to go on without Jones and use the rookie in tandem with the versatile Leon Washington.

New York Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez has struggled to make good things happen in the team’s offseason organizated activities, showing his inexperience.
Sanchez has been a target of a lot of razzing in the OTA’s after doing a steamy photoshoot with GQ Magazine, which the veterans certainly wouldn’t let go unnoticed.
The quarterback has especially struggled since the photoshoot, leaving Sanchez to say that it’s been a good day…. for the defense.
Head coach Rex Ryan seems unfazed by some of Sanchez’ early struggles, saying the rookie has made plenty of good plays and the ugly stuff is not a surprise.

The New York Jets have re-signed veteran tight end Bubba Franks to a one-year contract.
Franks is a 10-year veteran who saw little time with the Jets last season thanks to the play of rookie tight end Dustin Keller and the presence of Chris Baker.
He also missed eight games last year with a hip injury, which cerainly didn’t help his cause.
However, things may change a bit this year with Baker moving on to sign a contract with the New England Patriots, opening up a little bit of roster room and playing time for Franks.
Franks is best known for his time with the Green Bay Packers, where he was one of quarterback Brett Favre’s favorite targets and became one of the top tight ends in the league.

Several New York Jets players are not pleased about the latest news surrounding quarterback Brett Favre and a possible comeback attempt with the Minnesota Vikings.
Jets players weren’t all that pleased with Favre last year when he showed up for training camp, saying they wanted him in all the offseason activities if he returned this year.
Obviously, Favre did not return, opting to retire from the NFL. He was eventually given his release by the Jets, which then spurred all of the comeback talk since he was free to go to the Vikings.
Many Jets players believe Favre is selfish and his only interest in returning to play is the chance to really stick it to his former team, the Green Bay Packers.
They feel that his heart wasn’t really into playing for the Jets and helping them win games last year, but by trying to make the Packers look bad.

The New York Jets were very aggressive in the NFL Draft, trading up from the middle of the first round to the No. 5 overall pick to select quarterback Mark Sanchez.
Head coach Rex Ryan said that he felt Sanchez was definitely their guy when they worked him out before the draft.
He also made it clear that Sanchez would have every opportunity to win the starting job during his rookie season.
They also later traded up to get the first pick of the third round to select running back Shonn Greene.
Some had Greene rated as an early second round pick while others believed he was a mid-round selection.
